Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Kigali, Rwanda

Arriving at the airport you will be warmly welcomed by a Churchill Safaris representative, and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. A tour of the city can be arranged for interested parties depending on your time of arrival. Overnight at Frame tree village. B/B

Day 2Kigali- Nyungwe

After breakfast, you will explore Kigali by visiting the Genocide Museum and Caplaki Crafts Centre. Later proceed to Nyungwe having a stop at Nyanza and Butare National museum arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest lodge. F/B

Day 3Chimp tracking in Nyungwe Forest

After breakfast, you will go for Chimp tracking in Nyungwe forest. Home of 13 species of primates including chimpanzees, Nyungwe is a closed canopy rain forest and has lots of forest dwelling birds.
There is also an option of going for an afternoon canopy walk and for those that have interest in botany, the flora in Nyungwe comes as an added bonus. You will also have a chance to view the other habitats of the forest like reptiles and butterflies. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest lodge. F/B

Day 4Nyungwe – Ruhengere

Have breakfast you will drive to Ruhengere having lunch in Kibuye arriving in the evening. Please note that this is a long drive which will take about 8 hours. Overnight at Da Vinci lodge. F/B

Day 5Parc des Volcans - Gorilla Tracking

Today you set off for gorilla trekking in Parc des Volcans. Ascending the slopes of the Virungas, you will be immersed in the dense, lush rainforest. The vibrant birdcalls and squabbles of the golden monkeys will eventually bring you to the gorillas in their natural habitat. Starring into the eyes of these gentle giants is a truly once in a lifetime experience. Returning in the afternoon you can go for the optional Ibyiwatu Cultural group performance, where you will be entertained, and learn more about Rwandan culture, music, dance, and drama. Or take a visit to the twin lakes before returning to the lodge in the evening. Overnight at Da Vinci lodge.. F/B

Day 6Ruhengere – Kigali

There are so many options to choose from today as you get to decide between a second gorilla trek in the park, or tracking the endangered golden monkeys. You can also choose to visit the grave and final resting place of Diane Fossey and the gorilla cemetery. Later drive back to Kigali to transfer to your hotel or to the airport for your return flight home
