Pack for a Purpose

Pack for a Purpose” is an initiative by Churchill Safaris that encourages our clients or travelers to pack supplies needed by communities around the destination they plan to visit. The idea is to utilize a portion of your luggage space to carry items that are in demand by local schools, clinics, orphanages, and other community projects, thus making a positive impact on the destinations you visit. However, during this initiative we encourage the local community to take part by collecting any plastic materials such as bottles from the environment and in return we reward them with the items carried by the travelers or clients.

When packing for a purpose, clients are advised to consider the specific needs of the local community you’ll be visiting. Some common items that are often needed include:

  • School Supplies: Pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons, rulers, calculators, erasers, and other educational materials.
  • Medical Supplies: Bandages, first aid kits, gloves, thermometers, over-the-counter medications, and basic medical equipment.
  • Hygiene Products: Soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary pads, and diapers.
  • Clothing: Gently used or new clothing for children and adults, including shoes and socks.
  • Sports Equipment: Soccer balls, basketballs, jump ropes, and other sports gear.
  • Toys and Games: Educational toys, puzzles, board games, and dolls.
  • Food Items: Non-perishable food items such as rice, beans, and cooking oil.

When packing, be mindful of any restrictions or regulations regarding the transportation of certain items, especially when traveling internationally. It’s also a good idea to communicate with our ground office or local guides in advance to arrange for the delivery of the donated supplies.

By participating in Pack for a Purpose, you can make a meaningful contribution to the communities you visit and create lasting positive change through saving the environment while empowering the social and economic livelihood of the local people.
