13 Days Uganda-Mountain Gorillas & Chimps Group Tour – Selected Dates Only is a guaranteed seat-in group tour that is designed to make you save big while you enjoy the company of other fellow travelers.

We have both fixed and flexible group tours.

  • Fixed group tours are those that already have travelers booked on and you go by their dates and itinerary.
  • Flexible group tours are those that you can create yourself with the desired itinerary, dates and request it to be promoted as a group safari in order to save on costs of a private trip. This has to be booked at least 6 months in advance in order to give us time to sell it.

GROUP RATE:

 

  • The rate for 2 pax is $3,345 + $250 for chimpanzee permit + $800 for the gorilla permit.
  • If there are 3 pax on safari, the cost per person will be $ 2,778 + $250 for chimpanzee permit + $800 for the gorilla permit.
  • If there are 4 pax on safari, the cost per person will be $ 2,495+ $250 for chimpanzee permit + $800 for the gorilla permit
  • If there are 5 pax on safari, the cost per person will be $ 2,325 + $250 for chimpanzee permit + $800 for the gorilla permit.
  • If there are 6 pax on safari, the cost per person will be $ 2,212+ $250 for chimpanzee permit + $800 for the gorilla permit

What to Expect
Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda

On arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your representative from Churchill Safaris who will then transfer you to your guest house.

Day 2Entebbe – Murchison falls

Today, after your breakfast early in the morning, you will set off for Murchison Falls National park for two nights with an option of stopping at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking, at an additional fee. Have lunch en route and arrive in the evening.
Have a game drive as you proceed to your Lodge.

Day 3Murchison falls National park

Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip.
This morning you will have breakfast and depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park with a packed lunch. The 3,893 sq km park is home to a range of animals, and you will have a chance of viewing some of the Park’s residents including lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. For the birders amongst you, these areas support the secretary bird and the black chested snake eagle, to name a few.
After your packed lunch, you will go for a boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, where the Nile thunders through a small 7 meter gap plunging 43 meters into the Nile on the way to Lake Albert. The banks of the Nile are densely populated with crocodiles, hippopotamus, and a range of other wildlife that come to the river to drink. There is also the option of getting off the boat and hiking up the side of the falls to the top but at an additional cost.
Later, head for your lodge and rest.

Day 4Murchison falls – Hoima Travel time: 3-4 hours drive

After breakfast, you shall visit the top of Murchison falls and later continue to hoima to reduce the journey to Kibale forest.
Have an evening cultural entertainment at the fire place and overnight.

Day 5Hoima – Kibale Forest approx. 5-hours).

After breakfast, you will depart ‘Hoima for Kibale Forest National park arriving in the afternoon.
Kibale Forest is a large protected block of rainforest, which has the highest number of primates in Africa such as Chimpanzees, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Red Tailed monkey and Red Colobus.
Relax in the evening and get ready for the following day’s chimp tracking.

Day 6Kibale Forest

This morning you will go for Chimpanzee tracking along the network of forest trails, seeing chimps squabbling and swinging from the trees is an exhilarating experience. Spend the morning in the forest returning to the lodge in time for lunch.
Later in the evening, you will have the opportunity of a guided walk through Bigodi Swamp. Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is managed by the Kibale Association for Rural and Environmental organisation formed in 1992 with the aim of achieving social and economic development for local communities. This swamp is a home to approximately 137 bird species and its also rich in vegetation, such as wild palms, polita figs and the dominant papyrus.

Day 7Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park. (Approx. 2 hours drive)

After breakfast, you will depart Kibale and then head for Queen Elizabeth National Park having a game drive while entering the park arriving in the afternoon. Have lunch and later go for an early evening game drive.
Its little wonder that Queen Elizabeth boasts one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park or reserve in the world, – from the open Savannah to Rain Forest, dense Papyrus Swamps and brooding Crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward.
Almost 100 mammal species that include Lions, Hippos, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Elephants and the elusive Giant Forest Hog plus remarkable 606 bird species that include the Black Chested Eagle, the Swallow Tailed Bee Eaters, to mention but a few.
The Primates include Chimps, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons.
Reptiles are the amazing huge Rock-Python, Puff adders, Spitting Cobras, Gabon vipers, Green Mambas, and Turtles etc. All these are regularly sighted around the tourist village on the Mweya Peninsula and all this makes a superb safari territory.

Day 8Queen Elizabeth

This morning, we will go for a game drive to the Kasenyi area returning to the lodge in time for a heartily breakfast.
Relax and then later go out for the afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Hippos huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, Buffalos linger in the shallows, a tremendous variety of birds grace the grasses on the shores. Great White and Pink-Backed Pelicans, Great and Long-Tailed Cormorants, Open-Billed Stork, African Jacana, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers are commonly seen.

Day 9Queen Elizabeth National park – Bwindi National park. (Approx. 5 hours drive).

After breakfast, you will have a game drive in search of the tree climbing lions and later depart Ishasha for Kisoro passing via kihihi and kanungu with beautiful scenery of hills and valleys in between and terrace farming arriving at the lodge in the afternoon.

Day 10Gorilla Tracking – Rushaga or Nkuringo or Mgahinga National parks (Bwindi southern groups).

This morning you will have to wake up very early to get ready for Gorilla tracking. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. There are now only 650 left in the world! The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but it is well worth the effort. There are always park guides with you who interpret the flora and flora.

Day 11Kisoro – Lake Bunyonyi.

This morning you will have breakfast and then drive to Kisoro.
You can choose to go for the coffee experience as a way of supporting the local community where you will be taken through a coffee plantation, take you through the process of roasting your own coffee and then tasting it afterwards.
You can also go for a canoe boat on Lake Mutanda or Mulehe and after wards a village walk.
Afterwards proceed to Lake Bunyonyi Kabale known as the Switzerland of Uganda with beautiful scenery and terraced farming arriving in the afternoon. Have a boat trip on the deepest lake in Africa (Lake Bunyonyi). Bunyonyi Rock Resort H/B

Day 12Lake Bunyonyi–Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast you will depart Lake Bunyonyi for Lake Mburo national park having a game drive while entering the park. Lake Mburo is an extension of the Tanzanian Plains with big herds of Zebra, Impala, Eland and other savannah species. For birders, this is one of the best place to find African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike, etc. Go for an evening game drive and overnight at Kigarama Wilderness Lodge H/B

Day 13Lake Mburo-Kampala-Entebbe International Aiport

After breakfast, have game drive or an optional guided forest walk and then proceed to Entebbe having a stop to look at the Royal Drum makers, the Equator – where you will be able to stand and be on both hemispheres at once arriving in the evening to catch your flight back home.
