Day One: Cape Town.
Today you are ready to depart on your trip along the
Garden Route. Start off by heading out of Cape Town
along the N2. Turn off towards Gordon’s Bay and
follow the spectacular Clarence drive through
Kleinmond, until you reach Hermanus. This place is
well known as the whale watching capitol of SA. If
you happen to be there during whale season [july –
november] you will realize why it is also known as
the best land based whale watching spot in the
world. You may also choose to go on a boat cruise to
get closer to the whales. Leave Hermanus and
continue your trip to the southern most tip of
Africa, Cape Agulhas. You will overnight close to
Cape Agulhas in the beautiful and picturesque
Arniston, well known for the historical fisherman
cottages. This little town is also still known to be
the only place in South Africa with two official
names [Arniston / Waenhuiskrans]. The southern tip
of Africa is also a good place for a swim.
Distance ca. 5 hrs / 300 km
Accommodation Arniston Hotel 4**** / Arniston
Including DBL room, breakfast
Day Two: Mossel Bay.
Leaving this beautiful area you make your way
back to the N2. The next town you reach is
Swellendam. It has a rich history and friendly
locals. Here you’ve got the chance to visit the old
Drosdty museum, which takes you back into the early
days of the cape colony. After a relaxing break and
another 170 km you’ll reach Mossel Bay. Spend some
time in the Diaz Museum Complex, go for a swim in
the Indian Ocean or simple just relax at the hotel
pool with a cold drink.

A tasteful breakfast gives you the kick start for
an interesting day. Crossing Robinson Pass you’ll
leave the coastal region and get into the Little
Karoo. It takes you app.1 hr. to get to Oudtshoorn,
the ostrich capitol of the world. Recommended would
be a visit on one of the numerous ostrich farms such
as Safari or Highgate. Touch a Cheetah at the Cango
Wildlife Ranch and definitely don’t miss out the
Cango Caves, a 20 million year old cave system with
incredible stalagmites and stalactites. A 1 hr.
standard tour takes you into all the big chambers or
book the 2 ½ hr. guided adventure tour and climb
through the smallest holes you can imagine.

Days Four and Five: Knysna.
Coming back to the Garden Route via Outeniqua

beaches along the south coast, Victoria Bay as well
as Buffalo Bay are recommended. Go for a walk along
beautiful Wilderness beach [do NOT go for a swim
here as there is a dangerous current] or head on for
Knysna directly. This place is one of the most
popular ones in South Africa and has been voted
“favourite town” several times. Enjoy the views on
the lagoon, try some of the famous oysters or go on
a sundowner boat cruise. There’s enough time for a
trip to Knysna Elephant Park where you might even
touch and feed the big ones.

Day Six: Tsitsikamma National Park.
A very relaxing short drive takes you from Knysna
to Plettenberg Bay, famous for it’s beaches. Keen to
swim? This is the place. Continue your trip via
Nature’s Valley [another secret!] and the old
Bloukrans Pass. Watch out for the Bloukrans bridge,
you might see people jumping the world’s highest
commercial bungee [216m]. Back on the N2 you should
drive back a couple kilometers and watch it from the
view point again. Why not jump yourself? Only a 20
min. drive and you’ll reach the entrance gate to
Tsitsikamma National Park where the Storms River
mouths into the Indian Ocean. Take a relaxing walk
to the suspension bridge or climb over the rocks to
the waterfall on the “Otter Trail” [2 – 3 hrs.].

to visit Addo Elephant Park. Take part on a guided
game drive in an open vehicle or use your own one.
But watch out, there’s more to see than just the big
grey ones. You might also spot buffalo, lion, kudu
and many more. In case you don’t want to see
animals, why not going to Port Elizabeth directly
and spend the day at the beach promenade. You’ve got
money left? The Casino is 10 min. walk from your
